What do permanent Christmas lights cost?
Projects start at $4,500. The front of a home is the most common starting point, and it usually fits the first tier. The full roofline of a larger home, or the roofline plus a pool cage, moves into the second. Here is how projects usually break down.
| Tier | Typical range | What it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Essentials | $4,500–6,000 | A pool cage, a front soffit, or a landscape package. Where most projects land. |
| Elevated | $6,000–10,000 | A larger cage, the full roofline, or the cage plus the front of the home. |
| Whole property | $10,000+ | Larger homes with several lighting zones usually land between $10,000 and $15,000. Commercial properties are quoted per site. |
The average Innovative Lighting project comes in just under $5,000. Your estimate is an exact number after we see the property.
What makes permanent Christmas lights cost more?
The length of the roofline and the number of peaks are the main factors. A long, low ranch and a compact two-story can cost the same, because the number depends on the run, not the square footage. These are the six things that move the number, in order:
- Linear feet. Roofline or cage perimeter is the biggest factor. A long, low ranch and a compact two-story can cost the same.
- Peaks and corners. Every gable and return adds cuts, channel, and time.
- Cage height. Tall or two-story cages need lifts and more careful routing.
- Lights or Saber. Standard JellyFish lights are the value option. The Saber Series is a continuous line of light and is priced per foot.
- Zones. Front and back on separate controls, or one zone for everything.
- Landscape fixtures. Path lights and uplights are priced per fixture and wire run.
What's included in the price?
Every project includes the same core pieces, whether it is one front elevation or the whole house:
- A layout designed to your rooflines, peaks, and returns, and one exact estimate
- The JellyFish controller, LEDs, and aluminum channel color-matched to your soffit
- Professional install by our Venice crew, usually in about a day
- Wire routed out of sight and connected to house power
- App setup with your first scenes and a schedule that follows the sunset
- A local team to call afterward
Is it cheaper than hiring someone to hang lights every year?
Usually, over a few seasons. A seasonal installer charges you every year, and the lights come down in January. If you hire out the hanging every year or spend a weekend on a ladder, a permanent system pays for itself in a few seasons, and there are no bins to store or burned-out strands to replace.
The other difference is the rest of the calendar. Seasonal lights give you a few weeks in December. A permanent system gives you warm-white curb appeal the other 340 nights, plus Halloween, the Fourth, and game day in the same app.
Are they only for Christmas?
No. It is the same system as everyday soffit lighting, with different scenes. Most homeowners run a soft warm white most nights and switch to color for holidays and events:
- Halloween: orange and purple
- Thanksgiving: amber and warm white
- Christmas: red and white, or red and green
- The Fourth: red, white, and blue
- Game day: your team's colors
- Every other night: soft warm white
When should I book to have them up for the holidays?
Now is the time. Installs usually happen within a couple of weeks of your estimate, but October and November fill first, because everyone wants their lights up for the holidays. Most homes are done in about a day; larger two-story homes can take two.
